Any character enrolled in one of various organisations or militaries - primarily Sabrian, Yatarian, Aenian or Syndicate - has to conform to a few set rules and is required, on posting their character, to report in the appropriate Postings thread.

Each military/organisation has a variety of ranks within them. Some have a few for each section, designated primarily by level and then by a dice roll. Others just have one for each level - simple as that. They can be seen below.

It should go without saying that all ranks have superiority and command over those lower than them officially, and vice-versa. Disobeying the orders of a superior could lead to court-martial, imprisonment, demotion, flogging, or perhaps even torture or execution. Be smart, kids.

The ranks for any other militants of allied towns will simply fall under the ranks for their occupied power, any of these four. Any neutral entities will go by the ranks in their 'Posting' thread.

A good example of this is a militant from Farokon - even if you spent most of your time there, you'd still technically adhere to the rankings of the Aenian Empire.

AENIAN EMPIRE: RANKS

PROPHET
The three Prophets are canon and fixated figures. There is no way you can be promoted to this level. They're the primary figureheads of the Imperial government, and supposedly are the brains behind the operation - in essence, they are the three kings to lead the land, doubling as religious leaders and would-be conquerors in Aenias' name... although there's a lot more to this than it seems.
CRUSADER GENERAL
The highest and most officious rank one can receive in the military by way of simple promotion. It's the highest of the Level 5 ranks, and, generally can only be obtained by extreme luck of the draw or skill. There's a 1/10 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian General roll, and you're required to have been a member for at least two months to get it.
TEMPLAR GENERAL
The second-highest and middleground of the Level 5 ranks. Still prestigious and generally a figurehead when it comes to the Aenian military, the Templar Generals, unlike the Crusader Generals, tend to lead the troops into battle themselves and are generally skilled and far younger - although don't take the position of military advisor when it comes to the Prophets. There's a 3/10 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian General roll.
PALADIN GENERAL
The third-highest of the Level 5 ranks. Paladin Generals are generally ex-combatants and medal winners who have been rendered unable to fight, and generally work in the field with advanced equipment, often in charge of minor operations. Those that can be called to arms tend to lead platoons into battle when it comes to all-out war. There's a 6/10 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian General roll.
CRUSADER ELITE
The highest of the Level 4 ranks. Crusader Elites are the best of the best when it comes to field ops, and second only in tactical knowledge to the General. They're generally field commanders, and can function efficiently as a solo unit due to their advanced training. There's a 2/15 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian Crusader roll.
CRUSADER
The second-highest of the Level 4 ranks. Crusaders themselves are respected as renowned operatives in whichever military aspect they choose to dabble in, and are generally well-respected - and paid. There's a 4/15 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian Crusader roll.
KNIGHT-CRUSADER
The lowest of the Level 4 ranks. Knight-Crusaders are still treated as efficient units in a single platoon, but are generally the norm when it comes to special forces or advanced espionage units. They're highly powerful and generally rather intelligent too. There's a 9/15 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian Crusader roll.
TEMPLAR ELITE
The highest of the Level 3 ranks. Templar Elites are regarded as the general figurehead and idols for most of the Templar basis. There's 1/6 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian Templar roll.
TEMPLAR
The second-highest of the Level 3 ranks. Templars are the basis of most officer ranks but are usually efficient combat units. There's a 2/6 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian Templar roll.
KNIGHT-TEMPLAR
The lowest of the Level 3 ranks. The Knight-Templar is generally either a platoon leader or low-level officer. They tend to fight a lot in the field. There's a 3/6 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian Templar roll.
PALADIN ELITE
The highest of the Level 2 ranks. Paladin Elites are the highest non-officer individuals in the Aenian Forces. Generally, they lead some form of squad or platoon, and are trusted to take charge. There's a 2/5 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian Paladin roll.
PALADIN
The lowest of the level 2 ranks. Paladins are generally squad leaders, but leave leading platoons up to Paladin Elites and Knight-Templars. There's a 3/5 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian Paladin roll.
KNIGHT-PALADIN
The highest of the Level 1 ranks. Knight-Paladins are generally a step away from becoming Paladins, and it's very much seen as a limbo rank - it's given generally as a placeholder, signifying that you're close to promotion. There's a 1/10 chance of getting this in the Aenian Knight roll.
BLACK KNIGHT
The second-highest of the Level 1 ranks. Black Knights are generally treated as moral leaders or lancers within a squad of four or five men, despite their rather ominous name; personalities are definitely taken into account during squad formation. There's a 3/10 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian Knight roll.
CAVALIER
Cavaliers are the second-lowest of the level 1 ranks. There's a 3/10 chance of attaining this rank in the Aenian Knight roll.
KNIGHT
This is the lowest rank in the Aenian military. Knights make up a vast majority of the armed grunt base, and aren't generally allowed to personalise or customise their weaponry. A lot of new recruits spend a good few months, some, years, as a Knight before finally breaking through and gaining a promotion. Despite this all, there's a 3/10 chance of getting this rank in the Aenian Knight roll.

SABRIAN UPRISING: RANKS

PRIME MINISTER
De facto overarching rank of rule. Cannot be attained by regular means; makes all decisions regarding the city's economy, whilst doubling as a figurehead and something of a military leader.
CHAMPION PRIME
This is the highest military rank attainable through regular military promotion and prowess. It's the most elite of the elite, and generally belongs to war heroes and veterans, as well as those who have done much for the rebel cause. A Champion functions well as a simple unit, but a Champion Prime is devastating. There's a 2/10 chance of receiving this rank from the Sabrian Champion roll.
CHAMPION ADEPT
This is the second-highest of the Level 5 ranks. A Champion Adept has shown prowess beyond that required to reach the Champion level, and is promoted further so he/she can do more in the name of the rebel cause. There's a 3/10 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Champion roll.
CHAMPION
This is the lowest of the Level 5 ranks. A Champion can function efficiently as a single unit and is generally sent out on espionage missions as well as commanding various platoons and squadrons if not on the front-line - a rare occurence - as do the successive ranks. There's a 5/10 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Champion roll.
PARAGON PRIME
The highest of the Level 4 ranks. A Paragon has been recognised as an active, efficient militant, and is generally promoted to squad leader; a Paragon Prime is just on the verge of becoming a Champion, often taking the most dangerous of his assigned tasks - and usually his last - at this rank. There's a 3/10 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Paragon roll.
PARAGON ADEPT
This is the second-highest of the Level 4 ranks. A Paragon Adept is very basically a self-sufficient military unit and renowned survivalist, often required to have at least forty confirmed kills on the board and to have served as a special forces member to receive this rank. There's a 3/10 chance of attaining this rank in the Sabrian Paragon roll.
PARAGON
The lowest of the Level 4 ranks. In order to be promoted to Paragon, it's generally recognised that you need to stand out amongst fellow enlisted officers. There's a 4/10 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Paragon roll.
LEGATE PRIME
The highest of the Level 3 ranks. Generally, a Legate Prime leads an overarching branch of squads within a platoon, and heads off the 'main' squad, generally dispatched to take care of any enemy problems. There's a 3/12 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Legate roll.
LEGATE ADEPT
The second-highest of the Level 3 ranks. A Legate Adept is simply respected as a self-sufficient unit but is known to have a prowess for teamwork. Legate Adepts are generally in charge of the two secondary squads in the platoon, remaining contingencies for the first, lead by a Legate Prime. There's a 4/12 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Legate roll.
LEGATE
The lowest of the Level 3 ranks and the lowest officer rank there is. A Legate is recognised as part of a platoon, generally having served in it for a long term of time and hoping to be promoted to squad/platoon leader soon enough. There's a 5/12 chance of getting this rank in the Sabrian Legate roll.
CENTURION PRIME
The highest of the Level 2 ranks, and the highest non-officer rank attainable by regular means. Generally, a Centurion Prime has shown massive promise as a self-sufficient unit and is a respected voice in the platoon. There's a 1/5 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Centurion roll.
CENTURION ADEPT
The second-highest of the Level 2 ranks, and basically a stepping stone to becoming an officer. There's a 2/5 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Centurion roll.
CENTURION
This is the lowest of the Level 2 ranks. The lowest rank above a Legionary, generally renowned for their bad treatment of the new recruits, generally in charge of hazing them to ensure they won't break under pressure. There's a 2/5 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Centurion roll.
LEGIONARY PRIME
The highest of the Level 1 ranks. A distinguished recruit well on his way to becoming a Centurion, and later an officer, with a promising military future. There's a 1/6 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Legionary roll.
LEGIONARY ADEPT
The second-highest of the Level 1 ranks and basically just a step above the grunts. There's a 2/6 chance of receiving this rank in the Sabrian Legionary roll.

Simply enough the spot that Alicon controls now after the demise of his late father. This spot belongs to the all-seeing, all-knowing King of Yataris, and can't be attained via conventional means.

The highest Level 5 rank. Archrooks are militant advisors, commanders, and, on occasion, combatants themselves. There's a 1/6 chance of obtaining this rank in the Yatarian Rook roll.

They answer only to the royal family and the Archrooks, and are renowned for being elite veterans, as well as calculating and deadly efficient. In the Yatarian Rook roll, there's a 5/6 chance of obtaining this rank.

SYNDICATE: RANKS

ASCENDANT
This is basically the spot for the head honchos of the Syndicate. There is no elite and overarching leader; the Ascendants all have total control over the ranks beneath them and generally settle other problems with the solution of diplomacy when it comes to large business decisions. There are six Ascendants; the most prestigious and longest-lasting of these six is Opal Hutchinson. It's automatically granted to any Level 5 Syndicate character provided there are vacancies.
TRANSCENDANT
Transcendants are more or less the intellectuals and individuals who hand out the Ascendants' word, and spend most of their time in the Syndicate complex beneath the Yatarian desert. They carry out all of the operations and oversee them - personally. They're the corresponding Level 4 rank.
NEOPHYTE
Neophytes are simply the respected ground forces and field agents used in conventional operations which don't call for Transcendant or Ascendant intervention. They're the corresponding Level 3 rank.
ACOLYTE
Acolytes are the general foot-soldiers of the Syndicate, working as enforcers, kidnappers, etc; taking care of the dirty work, executing the orders that are handed down right through the top and siphoned through at least three or four links before reaching them. They're the corresponding Level 2 rank.
HERETIC
Heretics are the lowest rank in the Syndicate, and technically not affiliated, as one would expect from the name. Heretics are prospects and greenhorns who have yet to whet their nose and gain experience. Most Heretics that don't make it all the way into the Syndicate are either executed or an agreement is made to maintain secrecy. It's the corresponding Level 1/grunt rank.
