General Rules

Adore & Admire: General Information
Welcome to Adore & Admire! This is an alternate universe Western/Steampunk/Fantasy play-by-post forum. Here, you’ll find just about anything you’re looking for: role playing, combat, political intrigue, and sky pirates!
We do have some general rules that you need to follow during your time here. Don’t worry, most of it is pretty standard, and the rest is either common sense or for everyone’s convenience.
General Rules:
1) No spamming. It’s annoying, it’s inconsiderate, and it’s rude.
2) No flaming. It won’t be tolerated at all.
3) No auto-hitting. Role playing is a community-based project, whether it’s one person or five other people involved. Its okay to make attempts, like to swing at someone. But, “Helena raises her rifle, aims, and places a shot clean between Cortez’s eyes,” is not acceptable. You’ll upset the person you’re attacking, and I’m certain you’d be upset if it happened to you as well. “Helena raises her rifle, aims, and fires,” on the other hand, is acceptable, because it clearly states what you want to accomplish, intent, and leaves room for someone to respond.
4) No powergaming, metagaming, or godmoding. You are not invincible. You cannot do everything perfectly. You cannot read minds. You will not take advantage of metagame knowledge. If you know something that your character doesn’t, keep it that way. Characters all have their strengths and weaknesses, just like people. Please keep that in mind at all times.
5) Your username MUST be the name of your character. If you need to change it, you can do so in the “Profile” section on the top bar.
6) Equipment applications are REQUIRED for anyone that uses weapons, or any other kind of equipment. NO EXCEPTIONS.
7) Pictures are required for certain things.
This is a mature site. However, I do have to clarify some things on that.
9) Death is allowed, but only in threads that allow it. Such threads must have “(Death Enabled)” in the thread title, so everyone knows. Otherwise, death is prohibited.
10) Minimum of 200 words per post. This is so people don’t spam a bunch of one-liners. Think of it as a skill builder.
11) Avatars: they’re cool ‘n’ stuff. It must be of your character, since it gives people a quick reference of what your character looks like, and an easy way to identify who’s posting without looking at their username. Keep in mind that the max size is 150x200. So, you know, plan accordingly.
12) Combat is not always appropriate. This is a role playing site after all. There’s nothing wrong with sitting down, having a drink with other characters, and expanding your character’s background and personality.[/list]
13) One character per account. So, basically, if you're making an alt - make a new account. There's a point cost for creating a third, fourth, and fifth character, and you're allowed a maximum of eight. See the shop thread for more information.
14) No NSFW content is to be linked to the site in ANY way, including in the chatbox. If you do it, you'll be warned. If you do it again, you'll be suspended and possibly banned. Same with the above rule on sexual writing - f you have to ask, then, it's probably not okay.
15) All of these rules that are valid for the cbox are in place. The chatbox itself can be found at the top of the home page - only log in on one account at any given time on it, please, to avoid lag. And respect the mods - they're symbolised by an @ prefix to their name in the sidebar. They can, and, should you break the rules, WILL kick/ban you.
Follow all of these rules, and you’ll keep out of trouble.

- 7a) Pictures MUST be hosted. (Use Photobucket, ImageShack, etc. If you don’t have an account on an image hosting site, make one. It’s quick, easy, and free.)

8b) Blood and gore is allowed. You just have to be able to describe it.
8c) Acts of sexual nature is not allowed. This violates an agreement with the host site, and we’re not interested in your dirty moments. Please take it elsewhere. Also, if you need to ask if it’s allowed to be posted in a thread, then your answer’s probably “No.”
