CHARACTER CREATION INFORMATION

This is probably one of the most important information threads on the forum for new members. That's why the font size is larger than usual.

ANYWAY. Character creation may seem like a daunting and possibly confusing task, so here are some easy-to-follow regulations. The golden rule with making a character, or preparing your 'app', as most around here say, is simply to be social. Interact with staff, ask us questions, etc; we don't bite, and neither do most of the other members, generally being well-mannered and pleasant.

Character creation in itself is simple if you break it down. There are a few other rules we have in place to adhere people don't go way out of their depth with it, however:

There is to be no more than eight characters per person at all.
Every weapon user is required to have a custom equipment application also. This can include non-combat equipment if you wish.
Each new character should be prepared on an alternate account.
The first, second, sixth, seventh, and eighth characters all require no payment. The third, fourth, and fifth are all able for purchase in the Store board.

As for a guideline, basically, apps can be written in a number of points of view and styles. Don't be afraid to be innovative. Just ensure you hit all the word counts.

Once your app is finished, do not heckle staff for approval - only one member is required to, but reading over such a long app is something of a daunting task, especially when it comes regularly. We're sure your character is unique - but, please, have patience.

And, at the end of the day, you've perhaps not been approved on the spot and asked to revise. Generally, our mods are well-mannered, and will ask you politely to rework a few points at a time. If there's a lot wrong, they may ask to contact you on the chatbox or PM you. Please do not get angry. Be reasonable. If someone says there's something wrong with your app - there most likely is.

And, so, finally, you're approved! Hooray! Provided you have your equipment app at the ready should you be a weapon-user, once that's approved, you're good to go. Start RPing anywhere - organise a thread and get going.

Please take into mind that certain aspects of the application are non-negotiable, such as:

A picture is mandatory. It can be of another character from various forms of media, provided they're credited in the Faceclaim section.
Word counts are non-negotiable. And only Theme Song, Finisher, and Weapons section are optional - Face Claim if your picture is original.
DO NOT STEAL CREDIT FOR PICTURES. You'll get smacked back so hard onto your ass it'll hurt.
Revision notes are too non-negotiable, but you can discuss and justify should you feel it's necessary.

Please, please please take into mind A&A's setting when spinning your character's tale. I know it's confusing, but try and think of it this way - if it's technology, then it comes from Sabrie. If it's a four-man armed patrol, it's likely to be Imperial. If it's ancient and formal, it's likely to be from the desert, Yataris, or Avelus. So on, and so forth. Anything you don't understand?
